How to Unblock SoundCloud in 2026: Errors, Unavailable Tracks and Country Blocks

Is SoundCloud Down, or Is It Just You?

Try SoundCloud on another device, or on your phone with Wi-Fi switched off. The result narrows it down quickly:

• It fails everywhere: SoundCloud probably has a problem, and waiting is the fix. Outages do happen. In December 2025, denial-of-service attacks took the website offline for a while (BleepingComputer).
• It works on mobile data but not on your Wi-Fi: that network blocks it. At home, look at your router’s parental controls or a filtering DNS service. On a school or work network, see the chapter on those below.
• It works in one browser but not another: the problem is in that browser.

For the browser case, SoundCloud’s help centre suggests these steps, in this order:

1. Refresh the page. Most playback hiccups are temporary.
2. Clear your browser’s cache and cookies, then restart it.
3. Update the browser to its latest version.
4. Switch off extensions and ad blockers, or add soundcloud.com to their exceptions.
5. Try a different browser.

In the Android or iPhone app, pull down on the screen to refresh, check your connection, and if that doesn’t help, delete and reinstall the app.

"Not Available in Your Country": Why Some Tracks Won't Play

This one isn’t a block on SoundCloud. Music rights are sold country by country, and an uploader who holds them only for some countries can make a track available only there. Labels and other content partners can also pick the countries themselves (SoundCloud help). That’s also why a track you play every day at home can go grey on holiday.

What you can do:

• Look for the track elsewhere. Artists often post the same music on Bandcamp, YouTube or other streaming services, where the rights may cover your country.
• Wait until you’re home, if you’re travelling.
• If it’s an independent artist, ask them. Artists who hold the rights everywhere can make a track available everywhere.

A VPN set to a country where the track is licensed can make it play. Know what you’re agreeing to, though. SoundCloud’s Terms of Use (last amended August 17, 2026) say you must not “circumvent or attempt to circumvent” territorial restrictions, and SoundCloud can terminate accounts that break its conditions. If your account holds years of uploads and playlists, that’s a real risk.

Sign-in Errors, 403 and Other SoundCloud Messages

“Our robots think you’re a robot” or “Our robots think you’re spam”

SoundCloud’s anti-spam systems didn’t like something about your sign-in or sign-up. Its help centre lists the fixes: reload the page, use a different browser or device, restart your router, try another internet connection, update your system, and temporarily disable your VPN, ad blocker or privacy extension. If you’re creating an account, a different email address can help too.

403 Forbidden, or “configured to block access from your country”

These come from Amazon CloudFront, the network that delivers SoundCloud’s pages. From December 14, 2025, many VPN users got a 403 error. The cause was a security incident: SoundCloud confirmed the next day that email addresses and information already visible on public profiles had been taken, but no passwords or payment data, and part of its response was a configuration change that locked out VPN connections (BleepingComputer). SoundCloud told CyberInsider that “some users on VPNs” had “temporary connectivity issues”. In mid-December 2025, users across Vietnam got the “block access from your country” message, which local press put down to a misconfiguration (Báo Lâm Đồng).

If you see one of these today, switch off the VPN or pick another server, and try mobile data. If everyone around you gets the same error without a VPN, the problem is on SoundCloud’s side.

“Your current browser isn’t compatible with SoundCloud”

Your browser is too old. SoundCloud’s minimum requirements are Chrome 109, Firefox 121, Edge 121, Safari 17 or Opera 106, and for the apps iOS 16.4 or Android 8. If your device can’t run any of these, the website won’t work on it.

“Something went wrong when trying to perform this action”

If this appears when you try to follow, message or comment on one particular person, they have probably blocked you. SoundCloud doesn’t notify blocked users. This is the error they see instead (SoundCloud help).

SoundCloud Blocked at School or Work?

Schools, universities and employers often block SoundCloud on their networks, to save bandwidth or to keep people on task. That’s the network owner’s decision. Getting around it with a VPN or a proxy usually breaks the rules you accepted to use that network. If you need SoundCloud there, for a music class or a project, ask a teacher or the IT staff whether it can be allowed.

The “SoundCloud unblocked” pages on Google Sites and game portals aren’t SoundCloud. When we searched “soundcloud unblocked” on November 1, 2026, most results were spam pages planted on hijacked websites, including a regional government site and a university survey page. Don’t type your SoundCloud password into anything like that.

Countries That Block SoundCloud

Russia. Roskomnadzor, Russia’s internet regulator, restricted access to SoundCloud in October 2022 at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office, which objected to material about the war in Ukraine that it called false (Interfax). At first only the website was cut off and the app still worked (RFE/RL). Today it depends on the provider. Of about 3,100 tests of soundcloud.com from Russia between August and October 2026 in OONI’s data, roughly four in five were blocked or showed signs of interference. Mainland China. SoundCloud is blocked. GreatFire, which tests access from inside China, rated soundcloud.com 100% blocked in its latest test on October 25, 2026, and has recorded interference since 2011 (GreatFire). China allows only government-licensed VPN services and blocks most others (more in our guide Are VPNs legal?).

Going to either country? Save the music you want offline before you leave (that needs SoundCloud Go or Go+, see the next chapter), and if you plan to use a VPN, install it while you’re still at home. App stores and VPN websites are often blocked once you’re there.

Using SoundCloud While Travelling

SoundCloud doesn’t publish a list of countries for its free version. What changes when you travel is mostly the catalogue, as some tracks go grey under the licensing rules described above.

The paid plans have a country list. SoundCloud Go, Go+ and DJ are available in the US and its territories, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Ireland, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, Portugal, Austria, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and France (SoundCloud help, list from March 2026). With Go or Go+ you can save your Likes, playlists or whole library for offline listening in the mobile app, which is the simplest way to cover a flight or a country with poor or blocked internet. SoundCloud doesn’t say whether downloads keep playing in a country where the service is blocked.

Can a VPN Unblock SoundCloud?

In a country that blocks SoundCloud, yes, if the VPN itself gets through. A VPN sends your traffic through a server in another country, so the local network only sees an encrypted connection to that server. In Russia and China many VPNs are blocked too, so the choice of service matters more there than anywhere else.

Keep the limits in mind:

• SoundCloud may not like it. Its spam filter can stop VPN sign-ins, and in December 2025 its servers rejected many VPN connections outright.
• Region-hopping breaks the terms. Using a VPN to play tracks licensed only in other countries goes against SoundCloud’s rules on territorial restrictions (see above).
• Free proxies and “unblocker” extensions are a gamble. Many log or alter traffic, and you’d be signing in through someone else’s server. Our guide to free proxy servers explains what to watch for.
• On school and work networks it’s the wrong tool. Ask the people who run the network.

Did You Mean Unblocking Someone on SoundCloud?

If you blocked a person and want to undo it, there are two ways (SoundCloud help):

• Open your Privacy Settings page. It lists everyone you’ve blocked, and you can unblock them there.
• Or go to the person’s profile and unblock them from there.

To block someone, open their profile, click the three dots (…) at the top right and choose Block. You can also remove the reposts, likes and comments they left on your tracks. They don’t get a notification, but they’ll see “Something went wrong when trying to perform this action” if they try to interact with you.
